1st – External 2 Micron Sediment Filter

    • The first stage utilises a transparent filter housing, enabling users to visually monitor contamination levels.
    • This sediment filter efficiently retains coarse particles, ensuring longevity for subsequent stages.

2nd – Activated Carbon Block Filter

    • In the second stage, this high-performance filter removes approximately 99% of free chlorine particles and chlorine-based solvents.
    • It is also highly effective against hydrocarbons, phenols, benzene, and other organic substances larger than 5 microns, making it an ideal choice for reducing unpleasant tastes and odours.

3rd – The Heart of the System: High-Performance RO Membrane

WHY IT WORKS

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification process that removes contaminants by applying pressure to force water molecules through a semipermeable 0.0001-micron membrane. This membrane allows water molecules to pass while blocking larger particles, ions, and impurities, effectively separating clean water from contaminants.

The safety of drinking water processed via reverse osmosis, depends on the effectiveness of the RO system in removing harmful substances. AUTARX systems eliminate a wide range of contaminants, such as bacteria, viruses, cysts, dissolved salts, and organic compounds, resulting in high-quality drinking water from either a city water or natural source.

When processing greywater for reuse from sources like sinks, showers, and washing machines it’s crucial to implement GOOD WATER PRACTICES to reduce the contaminants in the water before processing.

These include:

  • Wipe plates and cooking equipment with paper towel to remove excess food and oils before washing.
  • No human or pet excrement in the shower
  • Choose an alternative for dish and laundry tabs that are contained in individual dissolvable plastics, when dissolved these create nano and micro plastics adding to the contamination load.
  • Flush the system as required
  • when dumping flush the grey water tank, the cleaner the tank, the lower the contamination load, preserving the filters capacity.

NO. Desalination requires a much higher pressure to be applied to extract the water molecules. AUTARX is unique in that it is a low pressure procss.

Yes, you can drink reverse osmosis water although the World Health Organization suggests low minerals (TDS) drinking water produced by reverse osmosis or distillation is not suitable for long term human consumption. Reverse osmosis is one of the few highly efficient filtration / purification methods available and is very beneficial because it prevents water-borne diseases and reduces the chance of ingesting any toxic chemicals from the water. However, because reverse osmosis is so efficient at filtering, it also removes the essential minerals from drinking water.

This lack of minerals may also impact on the taste of reverse osmosis water negatively for many people. It may make your tea and coffee taste flat because of this removal of minerals including salt.

In the case of AUTARX systems designed for drinking water a FILTRADOC Mineral+ with advanced water technologies is the third filter and includes:
